This ribbon campaign is dedicated to protecting and
recognizing the American Flag as well as standing for freedom in America
and in the world. It stands as a method for citizens of the United
States, patriots, and defenders of "Old Glory" to voice their support of
our flag and for freedom.
This campaign supports the constitutional amendment
to halt physical flag desecration. As we stand right now, the House
of Representatives has passed with an overwhelming majority the flag protection
amendment. The Senate, which is soon to vote on this issue, has shown to
be two votes short of the 2/3 majority. Opinion polls have shown
that an overwhelming majority of Americans want this amendment. If
you feel the same way, write your senator.
This campaign also stands for freedom. It
stands for constitutional freedoms, inalienable rights, freedom in a capitalist
market, and freedom of opinion for all. It stands in opposition to
forms of government in which freedom is denied. Included are communism,
socialism, dictatorships, and terrorist military states. This campaign
recognizes the free will and individual nature of man. It recognizes
systems based on this are successful. It most importantly recognizes
that freedom cannot be taken away. Even in places where physical
freedoms are suppressed, man always has the freedom to be an individual.
Man has the freedom to think.
In closing, I turn to recognizing "Old Glory" as
the symbol of freedom in the world. Besides being the most recognized
flag on earth, it is the symbol of freedom. It is the only flag to
have been placed on the moon. It has been sent to the far reaches
of our solar system on space probes. It stands in prominent places
across the earth. Many have fought and died defending this freedom
and this flag. If you are an American, I close in repeating a question
presented as I attended a speech on patriotism by an American veteran.
"Would you rather live under any other?"
"Navy Jack"
This flag joined the 13 "Rebellious Stripes" adopted at the Stamp Act
Congress with the famous snake sketch of Benjamin Franklin. If first flew
off the back of the USS Alfred in the revolution and is currently flown
by the carrier USS Independence.

to the one which flew over Fort McHenry inspiring Francis Scott Key to
write the national anthem.
"1818 20 star 13 stripe flag"
A return to current 13 stripes occured as a solution to the clutter
problem caused by addind a stripe for each state as well as a starr.
